A Quiet Place - important movie for inclusivity

While it has been in the theaters for a few months now, I recently had the chance to see the new horror flick: A Quiet Place. While this movie might at first look like any given horror flick, it is notable because the primary language of the movie is American Sign language, with English subtitles for those who do not know how to sign. The movie depicts a rural family attempting to survive an invasion of creatures who hunt by sound. The characters do not verbally talk, so to avoid being hunted by the creatures. The movie focuses on a young girl played by Millicent Simmonds (pictured below), who is herself deaf.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Not only was the movie a joy to watch, it also reminded me of the importance of depicting and casting members of the disability communities in the films we watch and love.
